Automotive

The SNA facility was originally built to produce automotive steel, and that tradition continues today.  As a well-respected, innovative supplier of sheet steel products to the North American automotive manufacturing community, we focus our products and investments on expanding our capability to meet the constantly evolving needs of automotive customers.  Our hot dipped galvanizing joint venture, for example, is being upgraded in 2006 to prepare for the production of a family of advanced high strength steels including Dual Phase and TRIP steels with a range of tensile strengths from 590 to over 800 MPa.

Today almost half of SNA’s production goes directly to automotive customers, with another quarter reaching the automotive industry through customers in the distribution markets.  Our hot rolled products are manufactured into wheels, bumper systems and frame components.  The cold rolled products are found in vehicle roofs and many other parts.  Finally, our galvanized products are found in a variety of locations, from the hood to the deck lid. Exposed panels often require a medium strength steel for dent resistance.

Appliance

SNA is positioning itself to be a strong supplier to appliance manufacturers.  By permitting us to provide more specialized products and a broader combination of gauges and widths, our modernization plan will help broaden our capability in this important market.

Construction

Already a significant supplier to the commercial and residential construction markets, our modernization plan will allow us to expand our capability and presence in this fast growing market segment.

Specialty Steel Products

SNA is one of the few North American manufacturers of high carbon, alloy and other specialty carbon steel products.  Our unique equipment and manufacturing expertise allow us to continue to expand our customer base in markets where superior strength, toughness and formability are required.

Oil Industry Tubular Goods

As a supplier to the oil drilling industry from the Gulf of Mexico to Alaska’s North Slope, SNA products meet the strict requirements demanded by the manufacturers of pipe and casings used for drilling oil.  Our products are also used in high pressure tubing, structural tubing and specialized applications.

Agriculture

In our long-standing relationship with agricultural equipment manufacturers in the United States, our hot rolled and hot dipped galvanized products are recognized for their excellent surface, gauge control and formability.  Our modernization plan will allow us to offer a broader range of superior products to agricultural customers.
