Markets
Appliance

Severstal North America provides steel solutions that are functional as well as fashionable for today’s trendsetting appliance and furniture industries. Recent and upcoming capital investments and new product capabilities make Severstal an attractive supplier for appliance and furniture manufactures.

Automotive

Severstal North America has been a leader in the production of demanding steels for automotive applications from the earliest days of the automobile. Today, automakers continue to depend on Severstal to produce the steel that can be used to make nearly every steel sheet component in a vehicle. Our boron heat treatable steels provide some of the strongest sheets produced today and play a large part in vehicle safety. Our vacuum degassed interstitial free steels are the most formable steels available and are ideal for complex stamping applications. From large body side panels to an intricate timing chain link, we have the extensive technical capabilities to supply steel to every automotive manufacturer in North America.

Construction

Coated steel is widely used for both new construction and renovation, especially when superior atmospheric corrosion resistance is required. Severstal North America provides cost-effective solutions for demanding steel construction applications with our Galvalume® and galvanized steels. Galvalume® combines the corrosion resistance of aluminum with the sacrificial or galvanic protection of sheared edges characteristic of zinc. Galvalume® is used in large array of construction applications including roofing, siding, gutters and exterior storage. Hot-dipped galvanized is often the preferred choice for heavier gauge steel sheet and certain building applications because of its resistance to oxidation and is used for construction, metal framing, residential roofing and siding.

Strip Re-rollers and Galvanizers

When quality is important, Severstal North America comes through. Whether it is gauge control for cold rolled strip or excellent surface finish for galvanizing, Severstal has the product capability and technical support to provide solutions that are tailor made for each customer.

Container

Severstal North America is a large integrated producer of steel products, including tin mill products that are fabricated into a wide range of end-use items. We offer tinplate, black plate and electrolytic tin-coated sheet. Tinplate is widely used for sanitary food and general line containers where superior corrosion resistance, coatability and manufacturability are critical. Black plate is used by specialty can makers and for a variety of non-container uses requiring good manufacturability and printability. Electrolytic tin-coated sheet is used for automotive oil filters and a wide array of other applications. At Severstal North America, the key to producing high-quality tin mill products is consistency – from steelmaking through finished product.  This consistency is achieved by using quality standards that were established when we received ISO 9002 Certification. Severstal North America is the nation’s leading producer of tin mill products, operating a stand-alone tin operation at Severstal Sparrows Point and a joint venture named Ohio Coatings Company.

Custom Steel

Severstal North America is one of the few North American manufacturers of high carbon, alloy and other specialty carbon steel products. Our unique equipment and manufacturing expertise allow us to continue to expand our customer base in markets where superior strength, toughness and formability are required.

Distributor

Severstal’s diverse flat rolled capabilities create an excellent supplier/partner for the broad product needs of the service center industry. We focus on building relationships to improve customer service, enhance information exchange and identify improvements in supply chain costs.

Pipe and Tubing (Energy)

Steel welded pipe and tubing are key products in the growth of infrastructure and energy. Severstal North America’s long-standing, strong relationships in this industry are testimony to our dedication to providing the products and services required by the pipe and tubing markets. Severstal’s product portfolio includes many API, high strength and custom steel grades that are ideal to meet the strict requirements of manufacturers of pipe and casings used for drilling oil, high pressure tubing, structural tubing and specialized applications.
