DEARBORN, Mich. May 1, 2011 – Severstal North America, one of the leading
U.S.-based steel producers specializing in the full range of the high quality,
light, flat-rolled products, is pleased to support two important industry
events this year – the first-ever Galvanized and Coated Steel Conference May 1−2 and the fifth annual Automotive Metals Conference May 2−3, held in
Dearborn, Mich.
Both conferences, produced by American Metal Market with Severstal North
America as a sponsor, offer participants an in-depth look at trends in production, North American and global market end users, supply chain dynamics
and the future direction of the industry.
A special tour of Severstal’s new, state-of-the-art Hot Dip Galvanizing Line (HDGL) will be made available to conference participants. The line is capable
of producing 500,000 tons of best-in-class exposed hot-dipped galvanized (HDGI)
and exposed hot-dipped galvanneal (HDGA) steel for the most demanding steel
applications. Coils for the HDGL are produced at Severstal’s new $480 million
(or 2.1 million ton per year) Pickle Line Tandem Cold Mill (PLTCM) with cutting-edge technology that adds new precision and quality control to the cold
rolling process.
“We are pleased to host these important industry events for our customers,
suppliers and business partners,” said Kristock. “We are equally proud to showcase our new HDGL, which contains some of the world’s best technology for the production of exposed HDGI and HDGA as well as a broad range of advanced
high strength steels which are in high demand for the automotive industry.”
With Severstal’s expertise as a leading supplier to galvanized, coated and automotive markets, venue location in the heart of automotive manufacturing and participation of key industry decision makers, the conferences are set to
deliver an excellent industry forum for all in attendance.
