It is not an understatement to say that Engineering is the foundation on  which everything else stands at Severstal North America. The knowledge of how to mass produce a product efficiently and economically, at a predetermined rate  and to exact specifications is the company’s calling card to success. Selecting, designing, developing and managing the processes, equipment, tooling, plant facilities, IT infrastructure and people to make it all happen is the purview of the Engineering team.

We give our engineers the opportunity, the tools and the latitude to  evaluate and develop new technologies, to hunt for better methods and to incorporate fresh thinking as we face the challenges of our complex industry, especially in areas such as safety, quality, the environment and customer expectations.

Despite the highly-technical nature of the Engineering function at Severstal North America, it has a very definite people-focused orientation. We want our employees to balance strong engineering and technical expertise with  enlightened management techniques and the ability to build productive, cooperative business relationships.

Top candidates will be organized, determined, curious and innovative with a solid grounding in areas such as industrial computer technology, equipment troubleshooting, simulation, process layout and optimization, tooling and  fixture design, value stream mapping and process improvement tools.  Also  valuable is expertise in factory automation justification, acquisition and  deployment, production planning, asset utilization, maintenance reliability and  building codes. Other assets include familiarity with product introduction, team-based work systems, environmental regulations, equipment safety, problem solving, continuous improvement, manufacturing quality planning and  quantitative methods.

July 21, 2014, Moscow – OAO Severstal (MICEX-RTS: CHMF; LSE: SVST), (‘Severstal’, the ‘Company’), one of the world’s leading vertically integrated steel and steel-related mining companies, announces it has entered into separate definitive transaction agreements to sell its Severstal Columbus, LLC and Severstal Dearborn, LLC subsidiaries, collectively known as Severstal North America, to Steel Dynamics, Inc. and AK Steel Corporation, respectively, for a total cash consideration of US$2 325 million.
